SPF will allow a student’s research project to become a reality by awarding 5000 EUR to be spent on proteomics analysis. SPF is open to BSc., MSc. And PhD students who are carrying out research at a European university.
No previous proteomics experience is required; just a well-designed scientific project that would benefit from using proteomics approaches to gain valuable insights that may help answer a relevant research question. Laboratories within YPIC’s network will be available to carry out the analysis and provide guidance on technical details and data processing.
Additionally, SPF will allow young scientists to engage directly with the YPIC community and receive feedback on their project proposals.
🇬🇷 After evaluating SPF applications, the three young scientists with the highest project score will be invited to the 2nd YPIC Annual Proteomics Gathering, to be held in Athens, Greece, on March 20th, 2025. Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered, and candidates will be expected to present their project ideas to the audience. The fund recipient will be announced at the end of the event.
The call for applications is now open!
Applications should be sent by email to ypic@eupa.org before 24th November at 23:00 CEST time. Guidelines can be found here.

Frequently Asked Questions
This section will be regularly updated with the questions we receive.
Which format file should be used for the application?
We kindly ask the applicants to send the documents in a single PDF file.
How long should the description of the project be?
There is no formal limitation on the length of your application, but concise applications consistent with the initiative’s scale are encouraged.
Can an application be shared among several students?
We appreciate that some projects require combining the skills of more than one applicant. Therefore, one co-applicant can be added to the application (along with their CV, proof of student status, and letter of support from their supervisor). However, please note that only the lead applicant will be invited to the Annual Proteomics Gathering if the project is selected.
Does the experiment need to be conducted in a YPIC network lab?
It is not mandatory to use a laboratory other than the applicant’s. Labs within YPIC’s network offer to help students without access to a proteomics facility.
When does the money need to be spent?
The current SPF call aims to fund a project to be carried out between March 2025 and March 2026. The money needs to be spent by the 30th of March, 2026.
